About UHPS

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to design, manufacture, and test a semi-autonomous remote controlled electric vehicle by the end of April 2019. This vehicle will be a prototype of a system capable of transporting cargo around the campus of University of Hawaii at Manoa's footpaths while utilizing Comprehensive Open Architecture Solution for Mission Operations Systems (COSMOS) as its operations software.

Primary Objectives

PO-1

To build an AEVS that is capable of safely traveling from building to building, without crossing any streets, within the upper campus of the UHM

PO-2

To build an AEVS that can keep itself, surroundings, and cargo safely protected.

PO-3

To support a various range of payloads, with the additional weight of the other subsystems.

PO-4

To build an AEVS that can be wirelessly controlled and have level 2 autonomous driving capabilities. Level 2 is known as partial automation where the vehicle is capable of steering, accelerating, and braking under certain circumstances. A remote driver is necessary and must be able to take over at all times.

PO-5

To test the suitability of the Comprehensive Open-architecture Solution for Mission Operations System (COSMOS) for the AEVS.

Secondary Objectives

SO-1

To advertise clean energy usage on campus and in Hawaii.

SO-2

To achieve recognition of UHM CoE in field of autonomous electric vehicles.
